1) On Wednesday, the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba ordered that Fredrick Nwajagu, the Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, be detained at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre. Following the release of a video in which he threatened to invite members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to Lagos to protect Igbo property, Nwajagu was arrested and charged.

 

2) Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in the February 25 presidential election, has stated that the leaked audio of an alleged conversation between him and Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, is fabricated. 3) The Federal Government has obtained $800 million from the World Bank as part of the National Social Investment Programme in order to mitigate the negative effects of the plan to eliminate petroleum product subsidies by June 2023. Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, announced this on Wednesday.

6) Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), attributes the party’s loss in the Kano State governorship election to the selfishness of some party members. In an interview with the Newsmen, the party chairman stated that it is unfortunate for the party to lose an important state such as Kano, and that the party will take action against the erring members.

 

7) Afenifere, the foremost Yoruba sociocultural organisation, confronted the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday regarding his stance that the general election of 2023 was credible. 8) On Wednesday, the Election Petitions Tribunal in Umuahia granted the requests of the Labour Party and the governor-elect of Abia State, Alex Otti, to inspect election materials with the Peoples Democratic Party. The court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to provide the Labour Party with a Certified True Copy of all nominations for governorship from the late Professor Uche Ikonne to Okey Ahiwe.

9) Three suspects have been apprehended by the Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for their alleged involvement in printing and spending counterfeit naira and dollar notes. Ikor Oche, the command’s spokesman, named the suspects as Kamalu Sani, Uzaifa Muazu, and Suleiman Yusuf.

 

10) Between January 25 and March 25, the Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘C’, Owerri of the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted contraband goods worth N2.8 billion. In addition, thirteen suspected smugglers were arrested during this time period.
