1) Guber Polls to hold in 28 states

 

While elections for the House of Assembly will be held in all 36 states of the federation today, only 28 states will hold elections for governor. Other states with off-season elections are Osun, Ekiti, Kogi, Bayelsa, Anambra, Edo, , and Imo.

 

2) Police Arrest Woman with Election Materials

According to the Lagos State Police Command, a 53-year-old woman who was discovered with laminated election materials has been detained. On Friday, police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed this.

 

3) INEC warns against fake Identification cards

It is feared that approximately 22 Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) cards for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers State are missing. Over 6865 of the state’s voting machines have been successfully reconfigured for Saturday’s elections. Johnson Alalibo, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, told reporters that the development would not affect the process.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has denied bail to an associate of the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sunday J. Ubua. Friday, a three-member panel of the appellate court determined that Ubua’s appeal was without merit.

His Majesty Richard Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro 1, the oldest monarch in Delta State, Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area, has joined his ancestors at the age of 106. The translated Ohworode, who was installed as the 12th Ohworode in 1988 at the age of 70, was a Royal Canon and Chairman of the Urhobo nation’s Council of Traditional Rulers.

13) Gunmen kidnap deputy governorship candidate, three others in Cross River

 

Gunmen have kidnapped the Deputy governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) Prince Agbor Onyi, and three others. The incident occurred along the Calabar-Ugep highway in Cross River. The victims according to our correspondent were in transit on the highway. At the time of this report, is not confirmed if the victim’s family has been contacted by the assailants.

14) Imo ex deputy gov freed after nine days

 

Gerald Irona, the former vice-governor of Imo State, has been released from Owerri Correctional Centre after nine days, our correspondent has learned. In a brief message released on Friday, Irona’s spokesman Walter Duru reported that an Abuja Federal High Court had ordered the former number two citizen of the state to be released on bail.
