1) Deposit Money Banks Decry Low Amount of Old Notes

Three days after the Central Bank of Nigeria declared old N1,000, N500, and N200 notes to be legal tender, Deposit Money Banks report that they are running low on the old currencies. Several bank customers who attempted to withdraw funds on Wednesday were afflicted with severe hardship and distress due to the occurrence.


2) Guber polls: INEC begin Distribution of Sensitive Materials 

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, began distributing sensitive materials for the governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday on Wednesday. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is ranked as the tenth most lethal terrorist organisation in the world. 9) Nigeria Inflation Rises To 21.91% Amidst Cash Crunch

Against the backdrop of persistent cash shortages in the economy, Nigeria’s February 2023 inflation rate decreased Month-on-Month (MoM) while increasing marginally Year-on-Year (YoY) to 21.91 percent. Analysts reported that inflationary pressure remained significantly elevated during the period, but was moderated by the severe shortage of cash in the economy.
