1) INEC declares PDP’s Fubara Winner of Rivers Guber Polls


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor of Rivers State, Similanayi Fubara, has been declared the winner of the election. On Monday night in Port Harcourt, the Returning Officer announced that Fubara had received 302,614 votes, while Pastor Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor, received 95,274 votes.


2) INEC declares APC’s Uba Sani Winner of Kaduna Guber polls



The All Progressives Congress (APC) senator Uba Sani has been declared the winner of the Kaduna governorship election. Prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis, the State Collation Officer, announced that Sani received 730,002 votes, while Hon. Mohammed Isa Ashiru of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 719,196 votes.


3) INEC Declare Adamawa Guber Poll Inconclusive As Wait for Nigeria’s First Female Governor Continues



Yesterday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election for governor of Adamawa State to be inconclusive. Professor Muhammad Lamin Mele, the state’s collation officer, stated that the number of invalid votes exceeded the margin of victory between the two leading candidates after he had compiled the results from all 21 local government areas.

Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared the winner of the governorship election in Benue State. According to the results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Alia received more votes than his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent, Titus Uba.

The Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged Muslims across the country to be on the lookout for this year’s Ramadan beginning Wednesday evening after sunset.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State urged Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege to concede defeat in the state’s election for governor on Saturday. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly and candidate for governor of the People’s Democratic Party, defeated Omo-Agege, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Katsina State has rejected the results of the state’s election for governor on Saturday. On Monday in Katsina, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, Director General of the PDP Campaign Council in the state, revealed the party’s position at a press conference.


8) EU Lambast INEC, Says “Election fell short of expectation”



The European Union has criticised Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission for failing to meet expectations regarding the country’s electoral process. In a statement released on Monday, the Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission, Barry Andrews, stated that Nigerians yearned for democracy and were eager to participate in the country’s democracy, but their appetite had diminished due to the failures of the political elites and the INEC.


9) Police Accuse Soldiers of Killing 2 Officers


On Monday, the Taraba State Police Command accused soldiers of killing two police officers at a military checkpoint near the INEC headquarters in the Jalingo region of the state.

11) Igbo leaders in Lagos call on Sanwo-Olu to release detained chief


Yesterday, the Supreme Council of Ndi Eze Ndi Igbo in Lagos called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the state to release one of their traditional rulers, Eze Chinedu Mozie, who was detained by the police after he challenged thugs who prevented him and his people from voting in the recently concluded governorship and House of Assembly elections in the riverine community of Ibasa Satellite town.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has resumed the Direct Entry (DE) registration exercise for 2023 that had been suspended.
