FG To Establish Railway Community Security Outfit

In order to address the country’s growing security issues on its railway corridors, the federal government has completed plans to establish the Nigerian Railways and Host Communities Security Committees.

Recall that the communities along the Abuja-Kaduna railway corridor had previously been contacted by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to assist with intelligence gathering and protect the railway infrastructure from vandalism and attacks.

The FG intends to step up community engagement efforts in response to the recent terrorist attack on a train station at the Itakpe-Warri rail facility.

 

1) In an effort to increase the chances of its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council appears to be planning an alliance with smaller parties. According to information obtained, the PCC and the party had been pleading with the parties to choose Tinubu as their standard bearer.

2) The British affiliate of Nigeria’s Guaranty Trust Bank was fined £7.6 million ($9.3 million) by the United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for having a lax money laundering control system. 3) If the federal government does not accede to the demands of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), a nationwide strike has been threatened. The association announced the start of the strike process in a letter to Dr. Osagie Ehanire, the minister of health, on Monday. The letter was signed by the association’s president, Dr. Emeka Innocent Orji.

4) In a video that went viral on Twitter on Monday, a man shared what appeared to be hemp with an infant. The police are looking for information on him.
