The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state has expressed concern about an alleged attack by soldiers on its members in the state’s ldanre council area.

Tajudeen Adefisoye, the member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, was accused of carrying out the attack, according to the party.

According to the PDP, two loaded Hilux buses carrying military personnel were brought to the town.

The military action, which began around 5:45 p.m. and lasted until 7:05 p.m., resulted in the destruction of shops and property.

The party claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs attacked PDP members without provocation, injuring many people and destroying their businesses.

“No amount of threats, intimidation, or harassment will prevent Idanre/Ifedore from voting for and winning PDP Candidates in the upcoming February/March 2023 elections,” the party said.

According to the opposition party, the invasion by the alleged fake soldiers was a retaliatory attack by the APC lawmaker who represents the constituency.

Adefisoye had previously accused opposition PDP thugs of attacking his convoy in town last Saturday, injuring his supporters.

Fasoranti Adeyemi, the PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity in Idanre Local Government, subsequently requested that the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, investigate the men in Army uniform who attacked and destroyed shops in the town.

Adeyemi stated that the crisis began on Saturday when supporters of the lawmaker allegedly shot into the air while passing by the PDP meeting venue on their way back from the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally in Akure, the state capital.

He claimed that when the lawmaker learned that PDP members had gone to the police station to report the incident, he decided to change the narrative on Monday.

However, Adefisoye, the federal lawmaker, denied the allegations, claiming that he did not bring soldiers to the town.

Rather, Adefisoye claimed that it was the PDP’s House of Representatives candidate, Festus Akingbaso, and his supporters who attacked him.

“They destroyed my cars, and my car’s windscreen was pierced by a bullet.”
