Northern States Where APC May Not Gather Much Votes
Presidential candidates have been organizing their homes in preparation for the 2023 presidential election as that election draws near.
However, for a variety of reasons, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may not receive a sizable vote in several northern states.
Adamawa state is one among the states where the APC might not receive many votes. In addition to being the state of PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Adamawa also happens to be one of the PDP’s northern strongholds.
Since 1999, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP is the only political party to have won an election in the state.
It should be recalled, that senator Ishaku Abbo from Adamawa North senatorial district, resigned his position as a member of Tinubu support group and dumped the All Progressives Congress APC for the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
Senator Abbo made it known to the public that he dumped the APC for the PDP, because the All Progressives Congress APC picked Muslim as running mate to fly the presidential ticket of the party.
Senator Abbo also made it known to the public, that he is bonafide member of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and as a result of this, he will do everything possible to ensure the victory of PDP presidential candidate in the state.
Another state that APC may not perform well in the forthcoming presidential race is Sokoto state. Sokoto state has always been a stronghold of the PDP in the northwest since 1999. Though, APC won the Governorship Election in 2015 because of Governor Aminu Wasiri.
However, the outstanding performance of Governor Aminu Wasiri Tambuwal will give edge to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP over the All Progressives Congress APC in the state.
It should be recalled that Governor Aminu Tambuwal was one of the PDP presidential aspirants before he stepped down for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the PDP Presidential primary.
As a result of this, Governor Tambuwal will also do everything possible to deliver the state for the PDP in the forthcoming presidential race.
