Maxwell, a user, stated, “The Ooni of Ife is to blame for going to such a place and accepting handshakes from strangers. I have nothing against Nollywood stars, but they must bow before the throne of the king of Ife. if the former Ooni of Ife was able to try this and even shake his hand?”

Another user, Yinka Poyigi, said, “During the course of a project, I visited various palaces in the east, and whenever I wanted to greet the Igwe, I would request to prostrate like an Omoluabi. Surprisingly, Igwes consistently decline because it is not their custom. The chiefs will request that I greet, introduce myself, and then sit down.

What a cultural jolt! But this is their custom, so before you walk on your head, you should ask yourself a few questions. Was Ooni seated on his stool in his palace when this occurred? Are the individuals in question of the same culture? Is Idobale (Porstinate) always an indication of sincere respect? Is Ooni a king among the two seasoned actors? Was this occurrence in Ife? I understand that Ooni is a king to some kings in Yoruba land and even a recognised first-class king in Yoruba land, and if I ever meet him, my chest will fall to the ground.

“I do not expect my Ibo brothers to behave similarly outside of his palace. When we travel and experience different cultures, our perspectives and exposure will shift,” he added.

Another user, Iamflappys, murmured, “No one will respect you if you don’t respect yourself. If the actual and former king is seated, this absurdity will not occur. If the king starts respecting the throne and acting like a king, this insanity will cease to occur. Regardless, remove your cap.

A user, Noel Enomheonse, opined, “It appears that this king is unaware of the cultural expectations for him. I’m still thinking about the Nigerian man who shook hands with the great Oba of Benin in that manner. Even the president and other world leaders submit to his authority. Sorry to report! Pete Edochie has just disregarded the monarch.”

However, one user, Ugezujugezu, saw nothing wrong with the action and even praised Edochie, stating, “When you hear OKWU OTO EKENE EZE, now you get it.”

Lincedochie, another user, stated that it is a gathering of elites.
