In an interview with Newsmen, Governor Adeleke explained that his father’s insistence that he pursue an academic career prevented him from realising his dream.
He said: “Music makes me feel so good. I enjoy music. I love dancing. In fact, I was intended for a career in the entertainment industry. During our childhood, our father believed that you had to be a doctor or a lawyer and that you had to attend school.
He stated that while attending school in the United States, he participated in dancing competitions and won cash prizes.
Adeleke said: “I still have it [dancing] in me. I do not believe it should cease because I am a governor or was a senator. When we have gatherings, everyone will be pompous.”
There is time for everything, including dancing, he added as a warning to his detractors who attempted to control his life.
He clarified, however, that dancing will not prevent him from carrying out his duties as governor.
Adeleke, affectionately known as “dancing governor,” is the father of popular Nigerian musicians B-Red and Shina Rambo and the uncle of renowned singer Davido.
