Paul Onuachu, a new Southampton striker, gained notoriety after video of him recording “the worst hat-trick ever” in 2021 surfaced.
The 28-year-old international from Nigeria joins the Premier League after scoring 17 goals for Genk across all competitions this season.
The Jupiter Pro League in Belgium, where 16 of those goals came in just 19 games, is where Nathan Jones’ team is counting on the 6-foot-7 frontman to help them move up the Premier League standings.
While Onuachu’s recent goal-scoring performance is unquestionably commendable, his bizarre hat-trick against RFC Seraing back in September 2021 has garnered the majority of social media attention.
A hat-trick is a hat-trick no matter what, to be fair to the Saints’ newcomer.
None of his three strikes, though, will appear on his career’s highlight reel.
Below, you can view it in all of its “glory.”

In the 41st minute, Onuachu scored the game’s first goal when he scored from one yard out. Prior to that, however, he almost lost the ball to a defender on the line after miskicking the ball from point-blank range.

The striker discovered his good fortune when he scored his second goal of the game shortly thereafter.
After goalkeeper Guillaume Dietsch saved his ridiculously tame shot, the ball fell directly to Onuachu, who was able to steer it into the bottom left corner for his brace.

Despite the fact that he only kicked the ball straight down the middle to complete his hat trick, it was still his best goal of the game.
The footage of Onuachu’s unimpressive landmark quickly went viral on Twitter, with the majority of responses being negative. We have listed the top responses below.ow.
Can Paul Onuachu help Southampton avoid relegation from the Premier League?
The Saints’ purchase of a striker at the end of the January transfer window was unsurprising given their current position at the bottom of the English Premier League.
Even though he scored one of the least impressive hat-tricks in football history, the physically imposing forward knows how to score goals. Onuachu has scored 164 times in 329 games during his career.
Southampton, who have scored just 17 goals in 20 Premier League games so far this season, could use Onuachu to replicate this performance if they are to avoid relegation.
