Lagos PDP Chairman, Deputy Suspended Over Anti-Party Activities

 

Mr. , MJ, the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) state chairman in Lagos, has been suspended alongside the State Deputy Chairman, Mr , for alleged flagrant violations of the party’s constitution.

The party’s Ward Executives in Ward E of Badagry Local Government Area and Ward J1 of Epe Local Government Area, both in the state of Lagos, respectively, implemented their suspensions.

 

The State Chairman was suspended due to anti-party activities, according to a statement released to the media on Thursday night by Ward Chairman Jamiu Boglo and signed by the Executive members of Ward E, Badagry.

On the eve of the March 18 governor’s election, he is alleged to have made financial arrangements with the Labour Party, LP and instructed PDP supporters in the state to support the LP through a message from his Special Adviser on Media.

 

The suspended state chairman was also charged with misappropriating money sent from the party’s national body as remittance from payments for the state’s provision of forms to aspirants. They asserted that this goes against section 58 (1) D of the party charter.

 

According to section 8 (9) of the party constitution, “Aivodji did not pay his annual dues,” he claimed.

 

The decision to suspend the state Deputy Chairman was made after the leadership reviewed his conduct at the conclusion of the recently held governorship election, according to a similar statement signed by the Executive members of Ward J1, Epe, and made available to the media by the Ward Secretary, who only went by the name of Mr Teslim.

In addition, it was claimed that Benedict had been paid by the LP to persuade PDP supporters in the state to vote against PDP candidates on March 18 through phone calls and text messages.

 

He was also accused of making untrue claims that the party’s national leadership ordered him and the troubled state chairman to engage in anti-party activities.

 

“They (Benedict and Aivodji) also accused Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the suspended national chairman of our party, by claiming they received the order from him.

 

Teslim declared, “This act violates Section 58(1)F of the PDP 2017 Constitution (as amended).”
