The screenshot does not mention how Pele died, or when he died, but the date suggests that he died on Christmas Day, or right after celebrating Christmas.

Truth : Pele Did Not Die (Yet) After Celebrating Christmas
This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS that has been spread via WhatsApp and other forms of social media; the reasons why are as follows…
Fact #1 : Pele Admitted To Hospital In November 2022
Let me begin by providing some background information on Pele’s recent health issues.
In September 2021, a tumour was removed from the right side of the Brazilian football legend’s colon. A few days after his eldest daughter, Kely, reported that he was “doing well,” he was reportedly admitted to intensive care. However, on September 30, 2021, he was released to begin chemotherapy.
On November 29, 2022, he was admitted to the Hospital Israelita A. Einstein in So Paulo for a reevaluation of his chemotherapy and treatment of a respiratory infection.
The hospital issued a statement last week indicating that Pele’s cancer had progressed and that he was also experiencing renal and cardiac dysfunctions.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, admitted since November 29 for a reevaluation of chemotherapy therapy for a colon tumour and treatment of a respiratory infection, exhibits progression of the oncological disease and necessitates increased care for renal and cardiac dysfunctions.
The patient remains hospitalised in a common room, receiving the required medical care.
Fact #4 : Pele Is Still Alive As Of December 28
Pele is still alive as of December 28, 2022, two days after the alleged publication of an article announcing his death.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent with him at the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital by his family.
Our Christmas celebration at home has been postponed. We agreed with the doctors that, for a variety of reasons, it would be best for us to remain in Einstein’s care with our new family!

On Boxing Day, allegedly the day Pele passed away, Kely Nascimento posted about enduring “another night with him.”
Even though we are spending Christmas in the hospital, we are cognizant of the privilege it is to be in a hospital such as @hosp einstein.
To see our father being treated by such competent and compassionate professionals. This privilege is not forgotten for a single second. Even in times of sorrow, we can only be grateful.

Fact #3 : Pele Was Not Suffering From COVID-19
People initially believed that Pele was afflicted with COVID-19, but his eldest daughter Kely Nascimento explained that he had previously contracted the coronavirus and now had a lung infection.
About three weeks ago, he was diagnosed with Covid. He is immunised with all available vaccines, but he contracted a lung infection due to the chemotherapy, which is fragile.
He went to the hospital as a result of the lung infection. Is he sincere? Due to his advanced age, he is currently treating cancer.
Fact #4 : Pele Was Fully-Vaccinated Against COVID-19
Undoubtedly, anti-vaccination activists will attribute Pele’s health issues to the COVID-19 vaccine.
First, I should note that, yes, Pele is fully immunised against COVID-19. Despite his poor health, he was able to overcome a COVID-19 infection through this method.

Fact #5 : Jon Whitman Writes For Thaiger
The article on Pele’s death was allegedly written by Jon Whitman – a writer for the Thai website, Thaiger.
It is unknown if the screenshot was photo-edited or if the Thaiger published an obituary for Pele in error and quickly retracted it. The article is unavailable / has been removed from the Thaiger website.
It is possible that Pele will pass away in a hospital in So Paulo, but as of 28 December 2022, this is not the case as he is still alive.
