We have not taken any action on Doyin Okupe’s resignation – Peter Obi campaign council
The Labour Party’s presidential campaign council has stated that it has not yet made a decision regarding the resignation of Doyin Okupe, the director general of the party.
Following his conviction due to a violation of the Money Laundering Act, Okupe had earlier given his resignation letter to Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate.

Recall that Okupe was given a two-year prison term for the financial crime on Monday by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The campaign director general (DG) announced his resignation on Tuesday but promised to continue to support Obi until victory is achieved in 2023.
However, Tanko Yunusa, the campaign council’s chief spokesperson, stated in an interview with Channels TV that the council would meet before making any statements regarding Okupe’s resignation.

He asserts that a single person cannot make such a decision and that the council must meet to make a decision that is in the best interests of all Nigerians.
He declared, “Until the campaign council meets and decides what to do and how to do it, we have not officially made any pronouncements regarding the resignation of Dr. Doyin Okupe.
Therefore, until the campaign council meets, those specific news may only be rumours. We are not a self-sufficient people who can make decisions on our own. In the best interests of the Nigerian people, a decision will be made collectively.
