The member representing Zaria state constituency, Suleiman Dabo, and the deputy speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Dr. Isaac Auta Zankai, have defected from the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Labour Party (LP).
The National Secretary of the LP and Chairman of the Governorship Campaign Council, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, confirmed the development by saying that half of the Kaduna state House of Assembly members were for “Obi-Datti” while launching the LP’s 450-member Governorship Campaign Council and announcing the party’s platform on Thursday in Kaduna.
“The support received from the calibre of personalities in the state, is an indication that the LP is on the march to taking over political power both in Kaduna state and at the national level,” he claimed.
“Honestly speaking, this is one of my happiest days ever. In my travels to spread the word about Peter Obi, our presidential candidate, I have been well received.
The caliber of the personalities that grace this inauguration particularly impresses me. Except for the Deputy Speaker and another state legislator from the Zaria constituency in Kaduna State, no notable figures in the Northern states have left the APC to join the Labor Party, he claimed.

He urged LP members in Kaduna state, in particular the youth, to band together and ensure the party’s victory in 2023.
Hon. Jonathan Asake, the LP’s candidate for governor of Kaduna State, urged the campaign council’s members to view their membership as a call to service.
This is a call to service, he said, because the country is in the mood for the Labour Party to rule it.
The youth’s willingness to take control of Kaduna and Nigeria and transform the country into a producing rather than consuming nation sums up the national mood.
“God’s hand is in this movement; it is a divine movement. So that we won’t have to worry about hunger or kidnapping ever again, may peace come to Nigeria, he prayed.
