Peter Obi: My fiscal discipline mistaken for stinginess
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate for president in the 2023 election, has stated that those who are pushing the narrative that he was stingy are those who feel threatened by his commitment to enforce fiscal discipline in the use of public funds.
Recall that Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling party, said that Obi is stingy while speaking last Saturday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure, which is the capital of the state of Ondo.

The accusation, however, has been refuted by the former governor of Anambra State.
Obi, who was participating as a special guest in a programme on Human Rights Radio’s popularly known as Berekete in Abuja on Monday, stated that his fiscal discipline is being mistaken for stinginess.

Obi explained that the reason people have the impression that he is cheap is due to his fiscal discipline in the management of public funds.
People who stand to lose out as a result of the blockage of waste view this as evidence that he is cheap.

“Saving money is not in the constitution of Nigeria; however, my Presidency will change our sharing mentality into a saving and production mentality,” Obi said during his campaign.
