Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) presidential candidate, has admitted that Olusegun Obasanjo punished him when he was governor of Lagos State.
According to Tinubu, the decision was made against the Lagos State Government and not as a punishment for him personally.

He asserted that Obasanjo decided against his administration because he belonged to the opposition.
During his time as governor, he claimed that the former president obstructed his efforts to address the problems with the supply of electricity.

Additionally, Tinubu charged that the Obasanjo administration of misusing and stealing funds intended to address electricity-related problems.
“I brought Enron to solve the electricity problem and help the Lagos economy,” claims Tinubu. “But Obasanjo and the PDP frustrated it. They penalized me and the residents of Lagos and even started taking our money.
“I established local governments in Lagos to promote economic growth and provide jobs for the populace, but Obasanjo seized our funding and punished us as a result.
That was wickedness, and that man claimed to have recommended a candidate for your presidential vote. Does Obasanjo have anyone in Nigeria he would suggest as a leader? A man cannot lead the way if he does not know the way.
“They punished me as governor of Lagos State, not personally, but Lagos State as a whole was punished.”
