Obi condemns attack on supporters in Lagos
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, condemned the attack on the party’s supporters at his Lagos rally on Saturday by a group of suspected thugs.
Obi stated that the civic space must not be neglected, urging security agencies to protect citizens’ fundamental human rights.

“As we enter the home stretch for the 2023 elections, I urge all Nigerians, regardless of political leaning or affiliation, to abstain from violence. I condemn all forms of violence and political thuggery, as well as the constant attacks against my Obidient supporters.
“I call on the nation’s security forces to protect those exercising their constitutional rights to free speech and assembly. “Our civic space must not continue to shrink,” Obi tweeted on Saturday.
Four individuals were injured in the attack on Obi supporters in Lagos.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police, stated that investigations into the attack had begun.
Four people were injured, as confirmed by Hundeyin, and the attack was regrettable, he said, adding that witnesses were already assisting the police with pertinent information.
