61 suspected political thugs arrested by Police officers after APC Kano rally, recover weapons

In an effort to rid the state of any and all forms of criminality that may occur during political campaigns, the Kano State Police Command claims to have apprehended at least 61 individuals who are suspected of being political thugs.

This new information was made public in a statement that was released by SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, who serves as the command’s spokesperson.

The statement claims that the arrest took place on Wednesday, just a few hours after the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, held its massive presidential campaign rally in the state.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPRO), the arrest was carried out in accordance with a directive issued by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Usman Alkali-Baba, who had previously declared war on political thugs in order to ensure a peaceful election process in the coming months.

“The suspects were arrested on January 4, during political campaign clearance operations conducted during a political activity at Sani Abacha Stadium Kano,” he said. “The operation was conducted during a political activity at Sani Abacha Stadium Kano.”

According to him, the items that were recovered from the suspects include 117 wraps of what is believed to be Indian hemp, a package, 33 knives, eight cutlasses, and four scissors.

A bunch of charms and three bottles of Suck and Die are also included in the haul along with five hundred Exol tablets.
