Two-year-old baby stolen by neighbour sold for N500,000 in Delta

Diamond Miracle, a two-year-old girl, was abducted from her home in Ekete, Udu Local Government Area, , and sold for 50,000 naira.

The incident occurred in Delta on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

The suspect, a neighbour of the missing child’s family, is suspected of stealing and selling the infant to another female suspect from Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.

It was discovered that fifty thousand naira was deposited into the suspect’s account for the two-year-old victim.

A further fifty thousand naira was reportedly paid to a woman who delivered the child to the Port Harcourt-based buyer.

The funds have been traced to the accounts of the suspects.

Israel Joe, a human rights activist, disclosed this to journalists in Warri.

Joe explained, “The 25-year-old girl who carried Miracle to a nanny confessed that she was sold for N500,000 to a Rivers State woman from Port Harcourt.”

He said;

“We learned that 50k was paid to the neighbour who stole the child, and another 50k was paid to the woman who delivered the child to the Port Harcourt woman,”

As they confessed to the crime, these funds were found in their bank accounts.

Joe stated that if the child is not located, the widowed mother could lose her own life, emphasizing that “everything depends on her children now that she has lost her husband, the father of her children.”

He stated that CSP Shaba, Divisional Officer of the Ovwian/Aladja Division, had initiated an investigation into the matter.

According to Joe, the DPO has contributed significantly to our investigations.

“After speaking with the DPO this evening, we are more optimistic that Miracle will be rescued alive from ritualists who are stealing and selling children during this election season.” Joe said.

During this election period, Joe advised parents to keep an eye on their children.
