Senate President Ahmed Lawan Re-Elected
The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that Senate President Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan has won the Yobe North Senatorial District.
Yobe North’s returning officer, Professor Omolola Aduloje of the Federal University Gashua, Bade Local Government, made the announcement.

She stated that Lawan, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, received 91,318 votes to defeat Ilu Alhaji-Bello, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who received 22,858 votes.
She declared Lawan the winner of the Yobe North Senate election.

Lawan, who did not participate in the senatorial primary for Yobe North, was nominated by the APC for the position after losing the presidential nomination.
After a running battle with Bashir Machina, who won the primary election, he eventually emerged as the party’s senatorial candidate through a Supreme Court ruling.
