Security agencies have received a serious directive from the government of Ebonyi State in lieu of the Sit-at-home Order

The government ordered all security organisations, including “Ebubeagu” Security Outfit (the Southeast regional security organisation), to execute any criminal found in possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon on Monday.

Tension and palpable fear were present in Abakaliki on Monday as a result of the proscribed Indigenous People of allegedly enforcing a “sit-at-home” order (IPOB).

Along the well-traveled old Enugu Expressway and Kpirikpiri axis, locals were seen fleeing for safety due to reports of an alleged invasion by IPOB members who were rumoured to be firing intermittently.

Banks, markets, and stores all closed their doors.

The government’s directive is stated in a statement made in Abakaliki by Mr. Uchenna Orji, the commissioner for information and state orientation.

“We order the neutralisation of any criminal found in the state in possession of a gun or other dangerous weapon by all security agencies and the Ebubeagu Security Outfit.

“This is because the government has taken note of the tension created in the state on Monday as a result of the unfounded rumour that non-state actors had given the state the order to “sit at home.”

The general public is urged to ignore the rumour that the state is purportedly enforcing the “sit at home” order.

It is untrue and nothing more than a figment of state enemies’ imaginations stoked by opposition forces to terrorize law-abiding citizens.
