Nnamdi Kanu news: Supreme Court okays FG request to file more grounds in appeal against IPOB leader
On Thursday, the Supreme Court permitted the Federal Government to add nine new grounds to its appeal against Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
A five-member panel of the Supreme Court led by Justice John Okoro approved the Federal Government’s appeal against the Court of Appeal, which discharged and acquitted Kanu.

The court granted permission after ruling on a motion for leave filed by Tijani Gazali, counsel for the Nigerian government.
The panel led by Justice Okoro also granted the Federal Government permission to include the additional nine grounds in its amended notice of appeal dated October 28, 2022.
Kanu’s attorney, Mike Ozekhome, informed the court of several motions filed by his client, including one in which he requests to be transferred from the Department of State Services, DSS, facility to Kuje prison.

Ozekhome asserted that Kanu was gravely ill and required appropriate medical care, which he believed his client could receive at the Kuje prison.
Following the hearing, the highest court adjourned the case until May 11.
