Tears as Container falls off truck, crushes 9 persons to death

On Sunday, nine people were killed in Ojuelegba, Lagos, when a truck carrying a 20-foot container crashed into a commercial bus.

While ascending a bridge, the truck lost control, according to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu of the Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

“Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a truck carrying a 20-foot container had landed on top of a commercial bus.

“According to the investigation, the bus was picking up passengers when the truck lost control and plunged off the bridge.

“A total of nine fatalities, including four adult males, three adult females, a girl, and a boy, were recovered.

“After suspending the container load using LASEMA’s forklift, a woman was extricated alive and transported to a trauma centre,” he said.

Oke-Osanyintolu stated that LASEMA’s heavy-duty ambulance and the Lagos State Fire Service were available for a rescue operation, as well as LASTMA and Nigeria Police for traffic control.
