Angry Youths Numbering Over 100 Storm INEC Office In Niger
Angry Nigerian youths stormed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Minna, the state capital of Niger, to protest the election held on Saturday, citing irregularities.
A group of approximately 100 people stormed INEC’s office and protested what they described as ‘rigged’ election results in Niger State.

They carried signs reading, among others, “Taxpayer money wasted,” “We can’t continue like this,” “INEC Chairman a disappointment,” and “This Election is Fraud.”
The protesters, who were not deterred by the presence of security personnel, demanded to know why the presidential election results were not electronically transmitted to the INEC result viewing portal.
INEC’s Secretary of Administration, Yakubu Doko, speaking on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Alhaji Ahmed Yusha’u Garki, reassured the enraged youths that whatever the INEC headquarters says will be communicated in due time.
He stated, “INEC is open and transparent. We have nothing to hide, but we will await clarifications regarding the uploading of results from the INEC headquarters in Abuja.”

Mike Junior, the group’s leader, stated, “Our anger is the result. Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu’s promise of IReV, electronically transmitted results, is what prompted us to cast our ballots in person.
“From voting precincts to wards to area councils to states. Therefore, this is our demand. We will not accept manipulation as an answer. We require original work.”
