Police officer’s son, another abducted in Edo

Chief James Omafuaire’s son and another man were abducted by suspected herdsmen yesterday while travelling from Ugbokuli to Ekiadolor in the Ovia Northeast Local Government Area of Edo State.

When the gunmen ambushed Bernard Omafuaire and the other man, they were transporting palm produce in a truck to a specific location.

“As soon as the truck driver saw the armed men, he jumped out of the truck and ran into the brush. My son and the cyclist were unaware of the impending danger and ran into the kidnappers, who abducted them.

“I have been attempting to dial my son’s line, but it is not working. Nobody has reached out to me. I called the police control room, but was instructed to file a report at the Ekiadolor police station. I hope and pray that they will not be injured. The kidnappers should immediately and unconditionally release them.”

When contacted last night for a response, police spokesman Chidi Nwabuzor stated that he was still awaiting a detailed briefing from the division’s police officers.
