Ogun protesters steal LG Secretariat’s mace

On Monday, thugs who participated in the protests in Sagamu, Ogun State, stole the legislative chamber’s mace.

Ejes Gist News Nigeria had previously reported that violent protests broke out in Sagamu on Monday morning as a result of the dearth of new Naira banknotes.

Protesters blocked the road, attacked, and set fire to Union Bank, First Bank, and Keystone Bank branches in the area.

Subsequently, the bandits advanced to the council secretariat, broke into offices, and stole the House’s authority symbol, the mace.

According to reports, they smashed windows and damaged doors at the secretariat.

Afolabi Odulate, the chairman of the council, confirmed the development.

“They did indeed infiltrate the secretariat. Nobody was assaulted. We had relocated personnel before their arrival.

“The mace was stolen. “They did,” replied Odulate.
