New tension erupts in PDP as Lailah Buhari reveals how Ayu Fuels Disunity in Northern State
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Kano central, Lailah Buhari, has charged that the national working committee (NWC) of the largest opposition party is to blame for the internal crisis that is tearing the party in the state apart.
Buhari expressed concern that the development might hurt the PDP’s chances in the upcoming election and specifically accused the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, of fanning the embers of strife among interest groups within the party.

The politician told journalists that she was determined to make history in the 2023 election, making her the only female candidate running for elective office in Kano across all political parties.
Recall that the court of appeals recently upheld the primary that produced Buhari over the faction that produced former federal lawmaker Nuru Danburam.
Danburam was nominated in a separate parallel faction led by Aminu Wali, whereas Buhari was elected at the PDP primary held under the direction of Shehu Sagagi, a factional chairman of the party.

A federal high court had previously ruled in favor of Danburam, but the appeals court overturned the decision and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to acknowledge and publish Buhari’s candidacy.
Danburam is currently arguing before the Supreme Court to overturn the decision of the Appeal Court, but Buhari has expressed confidence in her ability to win both the case before the Supreme Court and the election on February 25.
