Gunmen abduct FCTA staff, 14 others in Abuja

 

On Sunday, fifteen people, including a Federal Capital Territory Administration employee, were kidnapped from the 1,000 Housing Estate along Pegi community in the Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

 

According to our correspondent, the gunmen stormed the estate around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, fired randomly, and kidnapped individuals returning home from work.

The chairman of the Pegi Residents Association, Taiwo Aderibigbe, made the announcement to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, adding that a member of the FCT Department of Development Control under the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council is among the abducted individuals.

Aderibigbe stated, “Gunmen kidnapped 15 individuals along the abandoned 14-kilometer Pegi road, including FCTA employee Shuaibu Musa.”

“We also observed that the husband of the woman who sells used clothing at the estate’s main entrance was among those abducted as they returned from work.

“The abductors have not yet contacted the families of those abducted, but we are still attempting to identify other abducted residents.”

 

As of press time, the FCT Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, had not responded to our telephone calls, SMS messages, and WhatsApp messages regarding the incident.

 

The Director of the FCT Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, responded to journalists’ questions about the incident on Tuesday by stating, “The kidnapping incident is true; one of our drivers, Shuaibu Musa, was among the abductees, and he has yet to be released.”
