has said a victory for Peter Obi in Nigeria’s 2023 election will be a victory for Endsars victims, George Floyd, Black Lives Matter movement as well as all black people all over the world.

According to Goldberg, Nigeria, Africa’s largest democracy, and all countries populated by black people have a special place in the world, and so do the rights of black people everywhere.

If Peter Obi ends up winning the presidential elections in Nigeria, you could argue that it would represent the most significant political impact of the George Floyd protests anywhere in the world, including the US,” said Goldberg, the UNDispatcher Editor.

“Nigeria is the largest democracy in Africa and one of the largest multi-party democracies in the world,” Goldberg said, explaining why the victory of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate would be a source of pride for all blacks, black movement groups, and police brutality victims.

“Peter Obi is a surprising insurgent third-party candidate who is currently leading polls ahead of Nigeria’s February 25 elections.

.

“Obi’s skyrocketing poll numbers are largely due to his popularity among young people (those under the age of 34), who have registered to vote in record numbers in recent months.”

“So what does this have to do with George Floyd and BLM?” the UN Dispatcher editor asked, referring to the awakening of Nigerian youths, Obi’s victory, and the George Floyd and Black Lives Matter movement.

“In 2020, many thousands of Nigerian youth will take to the streets in historic protests against police brutality,” he added. The movement was called #EndSARS and was heavily influenced by BLM.

“It turns out that the 2020 movement against police brutality has sparked a massive political awakening among Nigerian youth, who are now registering to vote in unprecedented numbers.”

“According to official statistics, 85% of the more than 9 million newly registered voters are under the age of 34,” he added.

“The leading presidential candidate in one of the world’s largest democracies may owe his election to newly engaged young voters whose entry into politics was a protest movement directly inspired by BLM,” he said.

However, Rinu Oduala, an Endsars protester and anti-police brutality activist, stated that Goldberg’s assumption that the Black Lives Matter movement for George Floyd was not an eye opener that led to the Endsars protest in 2020 and youth political awareness was incorrect.

Endsars, according to Rinu, was a separate protest that had nothing to do with BLM protests in America. She agreed that the Endsars protest had influenced Nigerian youths’ political awareness.

“I disagree with you drawing a straight line from BLM to the #EndSARS protests,” Rinu said. That is a logical fallacy.

“Nigerians are no strangers to police brutality, and protests in Nigeria have been gradually building momentum since 2016, years before the George Floyd protests in 2020.”

“The hashtag #EndSARS sparked a massive political awakening. Yes. It was inspired directly by BLM. No.” Rinu elaborated..

Peter Obi is a surprising insurgent third party candidate currently leading in the polls ahead of Nigeria’s February 23rd elections.

Obi’s surging poll numbers is largely due to his support among young people (under the age of 34) who have registered to vote in record numbers in recent months.

So what does this have to do with the George Floyd and BLM?

In 2020 many thousands of Nigerian youth took to the streets in historic protests against police brutality. The movement was called #EndSARS and very much drew inspiration from BLM.

It turns out that this 2020 movement against police brutality inspired a *massive* political awakening among Nigerian youth, who are now getting registered to vote in record numbers.

According to official stats ~85% of over 9 million newly registered voters are under 34.

These young voters are flocking to Peter Obi who is actively and deliberately courting them in a dynamic discussed at length in my podcast episode today with @DCynthiaM.

The leading presidential candidate in one of the largest democracies in the world may owe his election to newly engaged young voters whose entry to politics was a protest movement directly inspired by BLM.

I’d be interested to see if @hofrench @SavvyRinu and others agree or disagree.
