I Can Become Freelance Journalist After Leaving Office – Ortom

On Wednesday, Governor of Benue State, , stated that after leaving office he may become a freelance journalist.

Ortom, who is in his second term as governor of Benue State, lost the election for the Benue North-West Senatorial seat to his former aide and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Titus Zam.

Speaking with ARISE TV about his plans after leaving office, the governor accused the presidency of spending money to ensure his electoral defeat, adding that he could pursue a variety of endeavours after leaving office on May 29.

He stated, “I know how much the Villa gave to Benue State to ensure that I lost the election. And I have agreed. And I’ve accepted that if another person arrives, I should assist them if they require assistance. And if they do not require my assistance, I will return to my farm. I will return to my business, and I will also consider becoming a freelance journalist.”

Invoking the Bible, the governor stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had brought Nigeria to its knees, but he had forgiven the President.

He said, “When you refuse to forgive, God will not forgive you. As a Bible student and regenerated Christian, I have forgiven President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Ortom also expressed optimism regarding the administration of the incoming president, .

“We hope that the incoming administration will provide our people with support, assistance, security, economic growth, and peace,” he added.

He advised Buhari, however, to remain in Nigeria and work with Tinubu’s administration to elevate the state and nation from “bottom to top.”

“He is not required to travel to the Niger Republic. He should remain with us (in Nigeria). “We should all work with the incoming administration, and by God’s grace, we will rise from the bottom to the top,” the governor said.

Ortom criticised the presidency for attributing the killings in his state to his administration.
