Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, is confident that the presidential election on February 25 will be won by whoever he chooses to support as a candidate. He expressed this optimism in a recent interview.
The governor stated that the insults that have been directed toward him would not cause him to change his mind about working for his preferred presidential candidate, who has not yet been named.
Wike and the other G-5 governors, Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ikpeazu Okezie (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Samuel Ortom (Benue), have all pledged that they will not vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the upcoming election.
The fact that Dr. Iyorchia Ayu would not step down as National Chairman of the opposition party was the impetus for the withdrawal of support for their party’s standard bearer as the candidate to represent them.

He gave the example of people who are unable to garner 25 votes in their constituencies for any candidate and said that they are his abusers.
