Youths Destroy Ondo Monarch’s Palace For Converting to Christianity 

, the Onikun of Ikun, has been assailed by young people and even elders because he chose to become a Christian and present himself as a “born again Christian.”

The irate people charged the monarch with refusing to carry out ceremonies in accordance with established customs and standards.

According to information gathered, the incident took place in Ondo state’s Ikun-Akoko, Akoko southwest local government.

To protest their monarch’s apparent conversion to Christianity, the youths and elders broke into his palace.

The demonstrators said that their monarch’s lack of resistance was to blame for the constant early deaths of the community’s brightest sons and daughters.

As they marched through parts of the neighborhood’s streets, they held placards, leaves, and palm leaves.

They further claimed that crucial ceremonies to protect the town from disasters had been skipped.

The demonstrators set fire to a gas station that belonged to the Oba.

Oba Adedoyin, who took the throne 19 years ago, claimed to have made every effort to encourage growth in the community.

The monarch claimed that before demolishing his gas station, the demonstrators made death threats against him and his son.

The Ikun Monarch said that three generators worth N1.5 million were vandalized and that a gas station employee was hurt.

He identified himself as an Ikun Akoko prayer warrior alongside other people.

According to sources, some people have been detained and will shortly be charged in court.

DSP Fumilayo Odunlami, a spokeswoman for the Ondo Police, was unavailable for comment.
