Daniel Bwala, a media aide to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, has taken a jibe at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its failure to present its defence.

In a recent development, it was observed that INEC did not commence its defence at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal even after a 10-day recess. The PEPC, which was convened in Abuja, had reconvened to allow INEC to present its first witness to substantiate the validity of President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential elections held on February 25.

However, when the court summoned the case for hearing, INEC, represented by its legal team led by Abubakar Mahmoud, SAN, informed the court that their witness was unavailable. Although the Commission expressed its commitment to presenting three witnesses in defense of the disputed presidential election’s outcome, it informed the court that the first intended witness was embroiled in a personal matter.

Reacting to the development, Bwala tweeted, “INEC failed to open its defence after 10 days break; reason? Because witnesses failed to show up. #Vuvuzela #hakunamatata”
