Khaid, also known as Sulaimon Shekoni Solomon, recently shared his inspiring journey from humble beginnings to musical success. Born into a family of 10, with a tailor father and a mother who juggled teaching and hairstyling, Khaid reminisced about his upbringing in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

Growing up, he decided not to pursue a university education due to fear of writing the UTME. Instead, he delved into various menial jobs after completing his secondary education. These included working as a mechanic, painter, and barber while honing his musical talents.

The turning point in Khaid’s life came when Sydney Talker, a social media personality, reached out to him via Instagram. Initially skeptical, Khaid thought it was a fake account but soon realized the authenticity of the message. This marked the beginning of a significant transformation for the budding musician.

Khaid expressed gratitude for the influence of his parents, both avid music lovers. His father’s fondness for fuji music and his mother’s love for Michael Jackson exposed him to a diverse range of musical genres. This exposure fueled his passion for trap music, inspiring him to create his trap songs.

So, I did not bother to check it out. When I eventually checked it, I wanted to send him a message to thank him for following me. But I realized he already texted me. We kept talking until one day, I just told him I was in Lagos Island and asked if I could come see him. I went to his house and I came up with about six songs. After a freestyle session, I later got signed and we did the paperwork.”
