Senate President Godswill Akpabio has defended the National Assembly’s decision to augment the 2024 budget by a significant N1.28 trillion. The justification, as articulated by Akpabio, revolves around the imperative for human capital development and addressing the pressing needs of Nigerians, particularly in the realms of school feeding programs and bolstering national security.

Akpabio clarified that the initial budget proposal of N27.5 trillion, submitted by President Bola Tinubu, was revised upward to N28.78 trillion to accommodate these critical sectors.
