In a tragic incident on Sunday afternoon, a fierce blaze consumed the renowned 10-storey Mandilas Building, situated on Broad Street, Lagos Island. The devastating fire resulted in the loss of merchandise and assets worth several millions of naira.
Eyewitnesses reported that the inferno erupted around 1:15 p.m., a time when traders were yet to commence their business activities. The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, assured the public that no casualties were recorded in the incident.

The fire originated in a warehouse on the first floor of the building and swiftly spread to other levels. Margaret Adeseye, while providing updates, expressed the collaborative efforts of multiple agencies to contain the fire. “Our teams are working tirelessly to bring the situation under control. At this time, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined,” she stated.
