Ondo: Amotekun Faces Deadly 7-Man Delta Gang

The Amotekun in Ondo State has thwarted a robbery attempt by a deadly seven-man gang from Delta State. Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the commander of Amotekun in Ondo State, revealed that the gang planned to rob three banks and kidnap a businessman.

However, their plans were foiled when an employee of their intended victim, who was solicited for inside information, refused to participate in the operation.

In Akure, Ondo – A perilous seven-man gang from Delta State’s plans to rob three banks in Ondo State were foiled by the Ondo State Security Network, known as the Amotekun Corps.

The gang had taken residence in a house in the Irele community, formulating plans to execute their bank robberies and kidnap a local businessman.

They attempted to enlist a staff member of the businessman, who is employed at a supermarket owned by the intended victim, but the staff member declined to join their scheme.

When their plot was uncovered, six members of the gang fled, but Fatai Baami, who had provided them accommodation, was apprehended. The Ondo Amotekun detailed its successful intervention against the Delta robbery gang. On Thursday, March 21, during the parade of 37 suspects arrested for various crimes, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the Ondo Amotekun Corps, announced that a manhunt for the gang’s leader in Delta State had begun.

Adeleye stated, “The seven-man gang operatives journeyed from Sapele, Delta State, with the intent to engage in kidnapping and bank robbery in Irele LGA.

While six of them are currently evading capture, we managed to arrest the ringleader who had hosted the robbers. We have also uncovered the identity of their intended kidnap victim.”
