Federal High Court Grants EFCC Permission to ArrestYahaya Bello, Former Kogi Governor.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) permission to arrest former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, in preparation for his arraignment on Thursday.
Justice Emeka Nwite granted the warrant this afternoon at the instance of the EFCC, following an exparte application by the EFCC Counsel, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Rotimi Oyedepo.

The application sought leave to effect service of the charge and proof of evidence on Bello by substituted means, including pasting the charge at his last known address in Abuja.
In addition to the permission to arrest Bello, the EFCC also requested the court to issue a public summons requiring his appearance, as well as grant leave to publish the summons in widely circulated newspapers.

Justice Nwite granted these requests, directing the immediate arrest of the defendant for his arraignment.
The ruling comes amidst a conflicting ruling from a Kogi State High Court, which restrained the EFCC from arresting, detaining, or prosecuting Bello.

The court has adjourned the arraignment of the former governor till tomorrow, April 18, 2024.
