APC Sweeps All Chairmanship and Councillorship Seats in Ekiti State Local Government Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a resounding victory in the local government elections held in Ekiti State, claiming all 38 chairmanship and 177 councillorship seats across the state.

The polls, conducted by the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC) on Saturday, saw the APC emerging victorious in all Local Government Areas (LGAs) within the state.

Returning officers from the various LGAs and local council development areas presented the election results at the EKSIEC headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, according to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Commending the electorate for their peaceful conduct during the elections, Cornelius Akintayo, Chairman of EKSIEC, expressed his appreciation for the political parties’ display of sportsmanship. Akintayo also lauded the professionalism exhibited by media personnel and security agencies throughout the electoral process.

The political parties that participated in the elections included the Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Congress (ADC), African Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Zenith Labour Party ZLP.

Notably, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had earlier announced their decision to boycott the council elections.

The overwhelming victory by the APC marks a significant milestone in the state’s political landscape, solidifying the party’s stronghold and influence in local governance.

The elections saw the APC securing an undisputed mandate across all council positions, reaffirming its dominance in Ekiti State politics.
