Action Alliance withdraws petition against Tinubu’s victory
The Action Alliance (AA) has withdrawn its petition challenging the victory of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate.
On Monday, the party announced its withdrawal at the presidential election tribunal’s pre-hearing session.
Oba Maduabuchi, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), leads the party’s legal team.
Prior to the withdrawal announcement, another lawyer identified himself as the AA’s representative.
He stated that the party wishes to have the petition dismissed because it did not consent to the action.
However, Maduabuchi insisted on filing the petition on behalf of the first and second petitioners.
Maduabuchi then formally requested that the party’s petition be withdrawn.
Following the announcement of the Action Alliance’s intention, none of the other parties’ representatives expressed opposition to the move.
As a result, the panel determined that “in the absence of any objection from the respondents, the application is hereby granted.” As a result, the petition is dismissed.”
The petition’s main claim was that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wrongfully excluded the party’s candidate, David Okanigbuan.
