The court also issued an interim injunction restraining Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and four other dethroned emirs—those of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye—from parading themselves as emirs. This injunction will remain in effect pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed by the applicants.

Justice Aliyu granted the order upon hearing an ex parte application presented by Barrister Ibrahim Isa Wangida, the counsel for the applicants, dated May 27, 2024. The court’s order includes several key directives:

  1. Interim Injunction Against Parading as Emirs: The court restrains Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and the four other dethroned emirs from parading themselves as the emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye.
  2. Evacuation of Nasarawa Palace: The Commissioner of Police, Kano State, is directed to take immediate control of the Emir of Kano’s palace located on State Road, Kano, and evict Emir Aminu Bayero from the premises until the motion on notice is heard and determined.
  3. Maintaining Peace: The order also aims to prevent any actions by the defendants that could disturb the peace in Kano.

The court’s decision comes amidst ongoing legal and political tensions surrounding the traditional leadership in Kano. Justice Aliyu has scheduled the hearing for the motion on notice for June 11, 2024.
