As the Yuletide season approaches, the Delta State Police Commissioner, Wale Abass, has taken proactive measures to guarantee the safety of residents during the festive period.

In a recent directive, Commissioner Abass ordered a substantial deployment of police personnel across the entire state, aiming to ensure security before, during, and after Christmas.

The directive, conveyed in a statement released in Asaba by the state police command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, mandates all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to deploy their forces strategically.

The primary focus of this deployment is to safeguard residents, particularly in areas of celebration, such as shopping centers and other recreational spots.

Edafe emphasized the comprehensive nature of the police operations throughout the state, with an emphasis on visible policing to deter criminal activities. Additionally, special crime awareness and prevention operations will be conducted, targeting crimes that tend to surge during the festive season.

In the statement, Edafe quoted Commissioner Abass, stating, “Conclusively, CP Wale Abass urges members of the public to remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times to avoid being easy prey for crooks who may want to take advantage of this period, which is typically marked by social gatherings and festivities.”

Furthermore, the Commissioner encouraged public cooperation in fostering community policing, underlining the importance of active citizen participation in crime prevention during the festive season and beyond.
