The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has established a disciplinary panel to investigate two operatives accused of assaulting a woman during a raid on a hotel in Lagos. The incident, which took place on Thursday, involved the alleged assault of a female staff member at Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos.

EFCC Spokesman Dele Oyewale announced in a statement on Monday in Abuja that the officers in question are scheduled to appear before the panel on Monday. The EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, formed the disciplinary team to address the conduct of the two operatives.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a viral video captured the officers assaulting the hotel staff during an early morning sting operation. The video prompted widespread outrage and calls for accountability.

“Olukoyede ordered the arrest of the two officers and has directed them to appear before a joint Disciplinary Team comprising the Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee (APDC) and the Department of Ethics and Integrity. They are billed to appear before the team on Monday, July 1, at the Corporate Headquarters of the Commission in Abuja,” Oyewale said.

The disciplinary team is tasked with investigating the incident and recommending appropriate measures to address the officers’ unprofessional conduct. Olukoyede emphasized that the EFCC is committed to ensuring accountability and maintaining high ethical standards within the commission.
