…We Are No Longer Doing Political Party In Our State.

Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara has announced a strategic shift in focus from party politics to a movement anchored on truth and consistency.

Governor Fubara made this announcement on Wednesday at Government House in Port Harcourt while welcoming a delegation from the Senate Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation, led by Senator Orji Uzo Kalu.

The governor emphasized that the state would no longer be constrained by party lines, choosing instead to firmly stand its ground in defense of democracy.

PDP has failed Us

In our state today, we are no longer engaged in party politics. We are initiating a movement. Therefore, you cannot fault me for distancing myself from party affiliations,” Fubara stated. “The party has let us down here. Our commitment now is to stand solidly on the soil of Rivers State to safeguard democracy.”

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to which both Wike and Fubara belong, has refused to discipline Wike, fueling speculations of his influence among the party’s decision-makers.

This development occurs against the backdrop of a prolonged political crisis in Rivers State, which began last year between Governor Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Despite intervention from President Bola Tinubu, the conflict intensified following Fubara appointment of Caretaker Committee Chairmen to replace pro-Wike Local Government Chairmen.
