Senate President Godswill Akpabio Advocates Abstinence from Alcohol and Smoking, Encourages Youthful Aspirations
Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President of Nigeria, has revealed that he has never consumed alcohol or smoked cigarettes throughout his life due to their adverse effects, citing a childhood encounter as the catalyst for his decision.
During the grand finale of the National Quiz Competition organized by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Akpabio delivered a message to secondary school students, commending their participation and urging them to avoid behaviors that could derail their future aspirations.
He specifically cautioned against the consumption of alcohol and any form of substance abuse that could compromise their health and ambitions.

Sharing his personal experience, Akpabio recounted witnessing a man staggering on the streets and falling into gutters after consuming alcohol during his childhood. This incident left a lasting impression on him, shaping his resolve to abstain from alcohol and cigarettes.
Akpabio emphasized the importance of adhering to parental guidance and steering clear of vices that could impede their dreams and goals.
He stressed the significance of fostering a generation of honest, God-fearing youths for Nigeria’s future.
