“They killed three farmers, Anas Sabonlayi, Abubakar Dankibiya, and Harisu Unguwar Lemu,” he explained.
According to him, the attack was in response to the military operation that was taking place in the troubled areas.
According to reports, the bandits also attacked visitors coming from the west to Birnin-Gwari Market to witness the town’s weekly Thursday market.
“On their way to the market, they kidnapped some of the traders/travellers.” Farmers in the area did not go to farm for about two weeks. “When they decided to leave today, they were attacked and kidnapped,” he explained.
According to reports, the deceased were buried in Sabonlayi village around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to Islamic rites.
Usman Kasai, the chairman of the Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU), confirmed the incident when contacted, saying, “They killed three people.” Many people were kidnapped. We’re trying to figure out how many people are in the forest with the bandits.
When contacted, DSP Muhammad Jalige of the Kaduna Police Department said he had not yet received the report.
He did promise, however, to contact the Area Commander in charge of Birnin Gwari and get back to The Nation. He had not done so at the time of filing this report.
