Abubakar Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has urged the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to uphold the declaration made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Atiku claims that he won 21 states during the February 25 presidential election.
In his final address presented on Friday, Atiku, along with his lead counsel, Chris Uche SAN, expressed that INEC’s statement, which indicated he won 21 states, had not been disputed, retracted, or debunked during the tribunal proceedings.

According to INEC’s response to Atiku’s petition, the PDP presidential candidate won 21 states in the last presidential poll. These states are Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Ekiti, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Osun, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe, and Zamfara.
Atiku emphasized that since INEC itself acknowledged his victory in these states and did not refute the assertion throughout the proceedings, the tribunal should uphold this declaration. He cited INEC’s open admission in paragraph 18 of its Reply to the Petition, where it clearly stated the number of states won by Atiku.
