Port Harcourt, Rivers State – In a noteworthy turn of events, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, paid a visit on Saturday to Chief Victor Giadom, the National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The visit has sparked speculation about potential political realignment in the region.

Wike, who arrived in Port Harcourt, was warmly hosted by Giadom in Bera, his hometown in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State. The meeting marked a reconciliation between Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, and Giadom, his estranged friend who previously served as Commissioner for Works under former Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Expressing his happiness at mending fences, Wike confidently stated in a video that the true leader would soon be revealed, emphasizing the evolving political landscape.

The former governor has been in conflict with the current state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, resulting in lawmakers loyal to Wike serving an impeachment notice. President Bola Tinubu’s intervention led to the withdrawal of the impeachment notice by lawmakers who defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party.

During his visit, Wike downplayed ongoing political chatter, asserting, “Forget about these hungry noisemakers on the road. When the time comes, we will know who is in charge and who is not in charge. This is not the time for politics. We didn’t contest elections based on social media; we spoke to the people, and they believed in us.”

Wike clarified that his visit to Giadom’s hometown was a private one, aimed at strengthening their friendship rather than having political implications. He commended Giadom’s capacity to connect with people and stressed that politics should positively impact communities.

Regarding his support for the Tinubu-led government, Wike affirmed, “When I was governor, Nigeria heard about Rivers State. That is why I will continue to support the government of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.”
