Politicians are urging the military to rig the 2023 presidential election, according to Lucky Irabor, the Chief of Defence Staff.

He urged the public to maintain its faith in the military by assuring the nation that it will remain impartial and apolitical.

 

 

 

 

Speaking to media at the State House in Abuja, Mr. Irabor claimed that troops and officers were frequently coerced and under pressure to interfere in elections.

 

 

 

 

However, he added that despite attempts to guarantee that the staff abides by ’s order on neutrality, the officers would continue to be committed to holding free and fair elections.

He added that rules of engagement before, during and after the elections have been handed to the officers.

 

Nigerians will head to the polls in February and March next year to elect new leaders at both state and federal levels.
