As a result, INEC and stakeholders from the Anambra South senatorial zone held a meeting in the state to discuss the general elections of 2023.
The meeting’s focus was on the importance of voter education and how to assess the state’s security situation.
Due to the unstable nature of those communities right now, state resident electoral commissioner Elizabeth Agwu asked the stakeholders if elections would be held there.

Denis Muomaife, the president-general of the Osumoghu community in Nnewi South, responded by stating that two of his buildings had been set on fire two weeks prior by unidentified individuals.
In addition, he claimed, the homes of the community’s traditional leader and the state House of Assembly deputy speaker who represents the Ihiala II Constituency were both set on fire.
Muomaife claimed that the community had established a Peace and Reconciliation Committee to ensure that such problems were quickly resolved.
The REC, Elizabeth Agwu, addressed the stakeholders and stated that it was time for the youth of Anambra State to seize control of their lands and safeguard the populace.

She added, “We must hold the 2023 election, it must be credible, and the votes must count. Insecurity in Igboland is caused by the natives, not imported people. The youth need to stand up now in all communities to defend their people.
“We have men and materials ready for the election. Communities must provide us with their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs). Materials that are not sensitive have already been distributed.
“Any action taken to undermine the success of the election in Anambra South should be resisted. Anyone found engaging in questionable behaviour during the election will not live to tell the tale.
“I rely on the President-Generals of every community and the traditional leaders to keep their regions safe during the election. Let us not hold ourselves back, Agwu said.

The REC added that the 2023 elections would determine whether Nigeria would still exist as a nation. “Today, this country is severely depleted, which is why we are discussing unity.
Everyone in this country is concerned about and impacted by voter education. The issue we have here is our propensity for pursuing money, she said, despite the fact that it affects us in so many other ways.
